Life's Good in Sunshine Coast

Js640_happy_people_in_sunshine

Yes. Life is good in Sunshine Coast. The common cliche of a place is not busy or crowded suddenly does not sound tiresome.

Queenslanders are popular amongst the tourists, Aussie or International alike, because of they are friendly. Unlike in Sydney where people freak out when you greet them, Queenslanders greet you - and mean it. One would feel absolutely robbed, quite rightly so, when you bump into a rude jackass in the street of Sunshine Coast as it is rare. The pace of life here, if one determine at the scale of "live to work", is 'drop-dead disappointing'. If it is measured by the scale of work to live, it is the place to be.

Residence of Sunshine Coast have more time to themselves and their family lead a healthy life. Above the two women doing their run with Huskies is a common sight. Children flock the parks and beaches. School children walk and cycle to school. The adults are not missing out either, soaking up the sun on the beach on an afternoon stroll. Picking up volunteers  in Sunshine Coast for obesity studies would be a hard job.

Public transportation is not operating at a mass scale like Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. It has buses connecting major towns, particularly Nambour where the only train station available - express service to Brisbane and Gold Coast.  The train ride to Brisbane is the most scenic of any train I have ever been on, rail track is surrounded with golf-like green grass on each side. At one stage it passes Glass House Mountain, a beautiful part of the train journey.

Cost of living is much lower than in Sydney and Melbourne. 2 bedroom houses and apartment are plenty for roughly $300 a week. However veges and fishes are dearer than in Sydney with limited choices. Queensland have strict regulations on commercial and recreational fishing. Catches in the fish market in Moololoba are huge and dear, expect fishes like Pearches, Barras, Parrot weighing above 1.5kg each, most definitely not suited for one person consumption. Veges are dear, a bunch of Bok Choys cost around $1.95 a bunch where you can get for $0.80 in Sydney. The cab is expensive - period.

There is a small University in Sunshine Coast, appropriately called as The Sunshine Coast University. Located at Sippy Downs, it is about 15mins drive to the main town, Maroochydore or the beach. There are a few colleges where the international students stay, particularly from the US and Canada. I think they made the best choice of coming here, where the sun and beach is the way of life.

There is one major airport in Sunshine Coast - Maroochydore Airport. It is a quite easy 15min drive from the center of Maroochydore. And the planes usually fly in from the sea instead of the inland, leaving those booming jet noise somewhere else that only Tempe, St Peters and Mascot residence can only dream of.

It has 3 surf clubs with cheap foods and good gigs. Head down to Alex surf club for food, it is better and cheap. Review on these three club will follow soon

Come over to Sunshine Coast- you may not want to leave.
