Battle of the Browser: Firefox vs Safari 3 vs IE7
I have been tempted to write something about Firefox web browser for a long time.
For those of you who do not know much about web browser - in order to surf the net (view the internet) like reading your news, checking your webmail ie hotmail or enjoying the porn privately, you need a web browser. There are a few browsers in the market and the leading players are Microsoft Internet Explorer IE, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and the latest one Apple Safari 3.
Apple Safari claims to have a
strong 5% of the total web browser market share. Before the launch of
Safari 3 for window, Mac users (to me like an Armish community) have
the total Safari exclusivities. 69% of visitors to my website are using
IE & 27% Firefox, the rest misc can be ignored...
For years I am a Firefox user but always keen on new toys. So I tried Safari briefly. Apple claims it is the fastest web browser in the market. I find it is not much different to Firefox. But slightly faster than IE.
In the past we, including myself, went straight to Internet Explorer, mainly because of ignorance. Then I found Firefox, and never look back. It loads web pages much faster. The features like Tab Browsing is a big Firefox signature and now adopted by IE7 (internet explorer 7). What tab browsing does is providing you to view multiple website in one window instead of cluttering windows.
Safari has Tab Browsing too. In terms of security, Firefox is generally safer than IE. It is because Firefox do not need (ok I am about to get a bit technical here) activeX like in IE, a component that regularly associated with prime target of malicious attacks. Firefox is a OpenSource product, where development this product is being contributed by the experts community world wide, so update is very fast and efficient.
Depending on your computer system, some browsers will take up a lot of computer resources like the memory and CPU processing. Here is a comparison in resource consumption by three browsers with 3 tabs opened displaying same webpages on each tab, with Safari being the hungriest. What this might mean that Safari would need a system with bigger & fast RAMs (memory) and high speed CPU.
IE7 has a better design but needs a brain surgeon qualification to learn how to use it quickly. Firefox is a straightforward application, no brainer features makes web browser a tool, that suppose to make life convenient convenient to use. Safari 3 design with dark grey border makes webpages hard to read.
Believe me, try firefox and you will never feel the same about internet again.

Opera's the best and fastest browser and inventor of the most relevant browser tools today.
