MSN Messenger Virus Alert

Not long ago my good friend's MSN sent across some unusual messages. It looked normal, particularly from a friend - only to untrained eyes. MSN (and others like Yahoo) is a common favourite tool for worms (something like virus but not the same - for computer dummies benefit) as a launching pad to infect another host (YOU!).

He is an avid movie collector. I was looking for HD DVD and Blu Ray. The sales dude informed that not long ago that Toshiba threw in the towel and pull out from HD DVD development & manucfacturing.

Watch out, Australia! Ah Beng is here

Sorry lah. It has been a while since I wrote my last article. My folks were here to spot check on me for 2 weeks. The past few articles, I have been writing about some serious issues, and a few readers could appreciate it. While others demand porn, slapstick humours and controversies. Since Burek for Breakfast, here is another controversy - a laugh at chinese darkest best kept secret - until today.

Freezing Aussie: Dish up thicker & warmer soups

After a mild autumn, winter announced its arrival in Eastern Australia with a mighty bang. Many had questioned if we were ever going to bring out the good ol' radiator this winter. Then it came, with devastation. Winter arrived with great frenzy, just like the appearance of Paris Hilton caused major havoc.

Battle of the Browser: Firefox vs Safari 3 vs IE7

I have been tempted to write something about Firefox web browser for a long time.

For those of you who do not know much about web browser - in order to surf the net (view the internet) like reading your news, checking your webmail ie hotmail or enjoying the porn privately, you need a web browser. There are a few browsers in the market and the leading players are Microsoft Internet Explorer IE, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and the latest one Apple Safari 3.

Someone did a search query "How is it to live in Sydney". My website came in 4th in Google organic search. I am not sure if my website is sufficiently informative to be able to help. I almost tried to write an article that evolves around it until I had the opportunity to spend some time in Melbourne for a few days.

Budget Time!! Australia Government Tax Cut

The words "Tax Cut" ring like a Pizza delivery guy arriving at the doorstep for the common Aussies and Tax Payers who live in Australia. So why Tax Cut sounds like winning a lottery? Because it is such a big deal in Australia. Unfortunately a big majority of people do not fully understand how it works except the accountants. This year, The Treasurer, Peter Costello, announced a generous tax cut for 07-08.

WTF? Mamak Wannabes in Sydney?!

There are good chances to come across some try-hard-wannabes. To lots of Malaysians, and for you Aussies, we loathe  - and I stress WE LOATHE - those Asians who (Indian, Chinese Malay, whoever) try to put up UK's, OZ's & worst of all Yank's accent. No. They don't normally crossed the line sounded like Tony Blair or Guliani or Alan Jones. Instead they sounded phoney with laughable attitude. That phoney accent which usually & magically came together with their foreign University degree - yes! a former foreign student back to the homesoil. For us, it turns out like a f****g sour awful beancurd.

Roti Canai - A new Gourmet in Sydney?

This article is the hardest to write todate. How do you explain to the Australian or anyone who has not been to or hasn't discover Malaysia enough, what is roti canai? Who is mamak? or WTF is Mamak is the first place. Here in Australia, I do need to be politically correct. So I need to be cirscumpect. No, Australians do not have ISA with Bukit Aman militants who will jump on me and then dragged me to jail... only to be mistaken with someone else. But I can potentially be termed racist! A reputation even KKK cannot afford.

Funny. We've all seen some of the funniest mispellings or miswordings or just a sheer coincidental, particularly amongst the asian restaurants, which made them look rather quirky if not stupid. Who said chickens are not fighters.

Sydney. Sydney. Sydney.

There are a few places in Sydney where you will find something out of ordinary. Like today, Karen (me former Universtity mate) & I decided to catch up. We planned to meet up in Newtown, a suburb closeby to Sydney CBD. Newtown is different. Now think of potato chips, substitute that with organically grown pumpkin chips. That's Newtown. It is where gay & lesbian, painters, activists and even punks that we all thought to be dead  lives happily together. And together they make this town unique, fun and quirky.

As most of you know that I've been to Korea, I was absolutely blown out of the water by their internet speed. I was at the rural area of Gangneung, and the speed they are 'complaining' for being slow was around appx 24Mbps. I heard it is common in Soeul that internet speed whizzing at 100Mbps.

Send Free SMS in Australia - WTF?

Depending on your carrier and the type of plan you're hooked, shooting a sms to your friend could cost a hefty 25c. Now imagine you are in a sms-tennis, if you are not Federer and didn't go for that down-the-line with your forehand, you ended up doing a 5 setter. And thats not ideal, isn't it?.

Pandora is cool!!!...

Last September, I had a conversation with one of the Google staff in Sydney when she mentioned Pandora. It is a web based juke box that belts out almost any genre, song title and artist that you would like to listen. You do need to register, and experience one of the coolest thing that ever happened in the Internet beside Spam Emails. (Note: To all Hongkie fans, No Jackie Cheung, Alan Tam and to all Malay song fans : No Siti ... and certainly No P. Ramlee and no classical/opera genre yet)
